3:00 p.m. Tour of Westwood Cemetery
Tour Oberlin's historic Westwood Cemetery with local historian and Westwood expert, Margaret Christian. Ms Christian has spent years researching and sharing the history of the African-Americans buried in Westwood.
6:30 p.m. Maafa Memorial Service
A service in memory of those who died as a result of the slave trade or slavery in the New World. Sponsored by Oberlin Black Alliance for Progress. Maafa is a Kiswahili term for “Disaster” or “Terrible Occurrence”) Speaker will be Dr. Laurence E. Nevels, Pastor of Christ Temple Apostolic Church, Oberlin.
